[[ooc; i'd like a quest, the best would be the lady with the rose incense.]]
Hayden had barely wanted to leave the boat. Seeing the island -- well, Emerald Island had left an impact on Hayden he would probably never forget. It had been absolutely beautiful. A lush, green, tropical paradise, covered in green forest that surrounded the entire island. He had stepped off the boat, cradling his Amoré in his hands.
That's what he'd decided to name the beautiful Pokemon. He felt a sort of love and bond that he'd never felt before to any being, and that was something that Hayden would treasure forever. He never really felt the power of true love, but in this case it wasn't scary, like he had thought it was. It was a feeling of joy. Yet, he was still and probably always would be scared of the word. Love. It sounded so ... intimidating. And it's where her name had come from. Amoré had fallen asleep in his arms, a big blubbery ball of cute.
He stepped down the wooden ramp, walking towards the new town at a steady rate; not in a hurry, but not strolling.
He couldn't wait to battle someone.
Hayden was an ... active boy that stood up for himself, but this feeling ... well, it was different. It was a feeling of exhilaration that Hayden had never felt before in his life. A feeling that made him feel like he could jump up into the clouds and never come back. A feeling that made him confident and happy, something Hayden wasn't quite good at doing.
As he walked into the pretty town, quite appropriately named Ivy Town, he noticed one thing about his new Pokemon.
Amoré wasn't quite used to greenery everywhere and being outside. She preferred to sleep. And Hayden was fine with that. He was fine with anything about Amoré, as long as she was his. And he knew it sounded cheesy, but he really loved her.
His first job was to check his PC. He vaguely wondered whether or not it was connected to the PCs over in the Hoenn Region, as he walked into the Pokemon Center. It was a pretty place, but it looked quite generic and as normal as any other Pokemon Center around -- except it was filled with plants. He swiped his trainer card through the slot, and waited as he saw his profile show up.
Perfect. It was still there.
He glanced over the information, and noticed a new mail. It was a wood mail. And he only knew one person who sent wood mail.
It was Lunairi.
"Oh, shit." he muttered to himself, but then suddenly glanced around to make sure no one was looking. He clicked on the mail, and read it slowly.
"Dear Strawberry Shortcake,
Haven't heard from you in a long time, and I hope I won't! Anyways, I'm in the Golden Islands at the moment, and I'm going to be a coordinator. I know you will be a Pokemon designer or something, so I'm glad that I won't be meeting you for a long time. Want to know why I sent this? Because I want to brag about how I'm going to finally have some adventure in my life, not like you, Strawberry. Destined to stay in a boring building for the rest of your life.
Hate you much, ~~Luna."
Shoot. Luna was here? Why? What kind of world was this? He could only hope that she wouldn't meet him, and they wouldn't meet. Because he didn't like her, and she didn't like him.
He talked to Nurse Joy a bit. Apparently the Golden Islands were different from the other regions not only in the way that they were just for coordinators, but also because they were famous for their "quests". You just helped someone, and you got a prize. After he found himself capable of doing that, he'd battle some Pokemon. Quite easy, wasn't it? Nurse Joy had also listed the many people on the island that needed to help, and apparently there was a woman in the 'Bluebell Forest'. Hmm. Well, that sounded much easier than the other ones he'd heard of. [i.e. little children {Hayden was not good with little children} and catching a Pokemon for someone else.]
And so he made his way out the door and waved to Nurse Joy, and then walked to the green forest on the edge of town, on the edge, looking for this lady.

male lvl 08 fake out, scratch, growl
Small white paws carried the pokemon over the soft green grass, bright blue eyes twinkling in the darkness of the bush. The Glameow stalked forward, his eyes fixed intently on a small Rattata that was nibbling on a small berry, the rat like pokémon was too busy eating to notice the cat like creature stalking up on it. His ivory paws padded silently forward, his spring like tail was raised above the ground so he didn’t disturb any of golden and red leaves which had fallen upon the ground. In one swift movement, the Glameow dashed forward and before the Rattata could squeal, he had it pinned with his sharp claws, his blue eyes glaring down in hunger at the defenceless creature. However, a sudden noise caused Glameow to jump, the Rattata slipping through his paws and dashing away down its burrow. Hissing in annoyance, Glameow stalked out of the bushes, searching for the creature that disturbed him and made his meal get away.
Before he knew it, Glameow spotted a person walking through the forest, how annoying, this person had disturbed him and now seemed to be disturbing other pokémon in the forest with his crashing about. Hunger driving him, he stalked forward, coming into view of the pink haired male with his hackles rising in fury. “Meeeow!” He cried in annoyance, spitting a little to make his point across that he was annoyed. This human better leave now, otherwise he was going to get his leg clawed at. His spring-like tail swished angrily from side to side as he stood his ground, challenging the young male to get out of the forest. Glameow wasn’t normally this hostile, simply the lack of food was making him act more aggressive towards the human before him. However, he couldn’t battle the young man if he didn’t send out a pokémon to fight him, that just wouldn’t be honourable.

[[ooc: omgomgomgomg. thank you! hey, by the way, did you give us pokedexes?]]
Hayden yawned slowly as he strolled through the forest. It was such a pretty day. It didn't seem like anything could go wrong. Sunlight streamed through the canopy and dotted the forest floor in various patterns and arrays. He'd been walking for a bit, in a sort of daze. For once in his life, he had all the time in the world, and he was going to use it up! He wasn't going to waste it! But at the moment, he was rather tired. He wondered if he was rubbing of of Amoré. He was still cradling her in his arms. People had stared at him a bit strangely, and he couldn't deny it, it did look more than a bit weird.
As he was walking by, a strange cat-like Pokemon leaped out in front of him, obviously in a rage for no particular reason. It was grey, with pretty angled light blue eyes, and, it's most distinct characteristic: a strangely sprung tail that curled ... and curled ... and curled, well you get it. It also looked beautiful and elegant. He stared at it for a moment, trying to identify it.
Ah, yes!
He remembered. It was a Glamew - or something like that. Glameow? Oh, yes, that was it. He'd seen one in Ronnie's farm. It had been a newcomer, so Hayden hadn't been taking care of it. As he remembered it was some sort of a dark/normal Pokemon, and -- well, this one looked very mad. And yet it still looked beautiful. A perfect contest Pokemon.
Hayden figured, "Ah, what the heck." And then he woke up Amoré and told her it was time to battle. It was sooner than he'd expected, but he shrugged his shoulders and remembered that he needed two Pokemon for a contest, and it didn't seem like he'd get one by standing there. Plus Glameow looked like he would be a good Contest Pokemon, when he was actually happy. Suddenly that feeling overtook him again. Exhilaration.
"Go, Amoré!"

His bright blue eyes watched intently at the boy in front of him, his tail lashing from side to side in an angry way, he did make his dinner escape after all. He was staring so intently at the pink haired young man, she didn’t realise that there had been a pokémon with him, a rather fat pokémon in fact. Turning his attention to the round blue pokémon he hissed in anger towards her, this fat little blob didn’t hold a candle towards him, he was the star around here and he was going to teach the Spheal the hard way if she didn’t leave. “Mrr.” Releasing a noise from his throat, he stalked quietly and gracefully forward, his eyesight never leaving the plump ball which was apparently, a pokémon. Flexing his claws, he continued to stalk towards the Spheal, not really certain about what attacks the blob would use however, that didn’t stunt his confidence.
His posture was tall and graceful as he slunk towards the Speal, confidence flowed from him as he waited for the Spheal to make the first move. However, when the first move didn’t come, Glameow decided to take it into his own paws and dashed forward letting a yowl escape from his jaws. Unsheathing his claws, Glameow dashed forward in a scratch attack. Since the pokémon he was facing against was fat and therefore, looked slow and therefore, he gathered he had the advantage with his speed. Bouncing from left to right, he also tried to throw the Spheal off before he dashed over to her right, outstretching his claws and arm, his blue eyes glittering like sapphires. Hopefully, this battle would be over quickly, the Spheal wasn’t much of a threat to him so he was pretty confident that the battle will be over soon and he could go back to hunting for his empty belly.

Spheal was obviously quite surprised when that strange cat came slinking up to him. Well it was a pretty cat, and it did look quite mad. But Amoré would just have to teach him a lesson, right? She awaited her trainer's orders.
Hayden sighed, his mind whirling at a faster pace then ever before. He knew Amoré's moves, he'd even tried them out before, but how could he work them to his advantage? He thought for a second, but then realized that the Glameow looked like he was getting ready to attack ... with a scratch.
He yelled the first thing that came out of his mouth.
"Amoré, first roll over quickly, because Glameow looks like he's going to get you. Then use Powder Snow, and really freeze him, okay?"
His outburst surprised even him. Maybe he did know the moves quite well.
Amoré yawned as she awaited her trainer's orders. She was pondering whether or not to quickly move, because that Glameow looked like he was ready to kill, with all his scary claws out and his stalking towards her and all. Suddenly, the order came, and to Amoré's surprise, it actually sounded quite professional for a coordinator that had never battled anyone before. With a delighted squeal, she rolled over quickly [one of the ways she used as fast transportation], and then stopped quickly as she had now appeared at the side of Glameow. Oh, what to do? Yes, her trainer had said use Powder Snow. The word clicked in her brain, and she remembered their 'training practices'. Then she blew hard on the Glameow, and though it looked quite silly at first, after a time, most could see the beautiful shimmering powder that had come out of her mouth and was now flying at the Glameow at a fast and surprising rate.

His blue eyes glittered like sapphires as he lashed forward, his claws glinting in the sunrays that broke through the canopy of leaves. This was going to be in the bag, that fat lump wouldn’t be able to dodge his quick movements. That was why Glameow was so shocked when the plump Spheal suddenly rolled out the way, letting out a startled hiss, Glameow charged after the water and ice type, furious that the fat beast would get out of the way of his attack. “Meoow!” He cried out, his sapphire eyes glinting dangerously as he closed in on the Spheal, his claws out stretched as he swiped again. Unfortunately for him, his claws slashed through thin air and he couldn’t help but raise his lip in a snarl like a Growlithe would have. Hissing in annoyance, the handsome cat like pokémon didn’t notice that the Spheal had stopped in her stracks and was going to counter attack him.
Before he knew what was going on, a sudden cold breeze washed over him and he couldn’t help but shiver violently as he took on the attack head on. The cold stabbed at him like tiny needles and his teeth chattered violently as he glared at the Spheal in front of him. How dare that podgy little beast freeze him half to death, he was going to get her back for that one. With a yowl, he forced himself to leap out of the way which proved harder than he thought, as his limbs were so numb and in pain. However, he pushed it to the back of his mind as he charged at the Spheal again, leaping at her with his claws outstretched one again as he aimed another scratch attack at the water and ice type. He would not be beaten by the fat Spheal, he refused.

Hayden sighed. What to do? It was already too late to save Amoré from the deadly scratch attack, so he had to let her be hit. He watched as if in slow motion, seeing the claws hit the skin and leave a faint line of blood in its wake. He regretted it dearly, and already he was feeling the same pain as his darling Spheal. On the other hand, as she'd been hit, this could be their chance at victory. This Glameow seemed to be quite proud, almost on the edge of being pompous. If he'd attacked her successfully, he seemed the type to sit around and preen. Hayden decided to use this to his advantage.
"Amoré, I'm so sorry about that, but I want you to use growl. And I want you to really growl, okay, Amoré? You've got to scare him out of his wits. After that, quickly use water gun, and try to make it as big as possible, because I want to knock him out soon before you get hurt, okay?"
Hayden prayed that it would work, because he didn't want to subject Amoré to any more torture, and even though she looked fine after the brutal attack, it was her first battle and Hayden didn't want to pile any emotional stress on her and have her lose her first battle. Of course he wanted to catch the Glameow, but he needed to get it into a fainted state or very weak, and he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to do that. Hayden tried to think to himself that Amoré was just a Pokemon, not a person, but already he knew it wasn't true. Amoré had become his best friend, a light in the complete darkness, a shoulder to lean upon. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath ...
and hoped.

The cat like creature grinned like a cheshire cat as his scratch scored a blow down the opponents side, that would teach the round ball to go after him like that, even if he did provoke the first attack. Nimbly, the Glameow leaped out of the way of the Spheal, getting some distance between the pair. Personally, he didn't have a large range of attacks but he knew it would be enough to beat the little round thing to a pulp before he knew it. To say the least, he was a very confident young Glameow, he believed he could win every battle, and complete any task with perfection. Some say that being over confident was a flaw but Glameow only thought of his confidence as a blessing, he hardly ever doubted himself and because of that, he was a happier creature.
A sudden cry rang around him causing him to press his ears flat against his skull as he hissed in annoyance. A growl huh? Well, it may lower some stats but he still held his head high, he would still win this battle, regardless of what the Spheal tried on him. In responce to the growl, Glameow himself released a Growl as well, aiming to lower the Spheals stats like she had done to him. That would teach her who the alpha was in this battle. What he didn't see coming though, was the jet of water that flew towards him. Yowling in horror, he leapt out of the way to try and avoid the cold spray, however, it was too late. The forceful blast collided with his back legs and caused him to tumble back along the floor, his sapphire eyes closed and his brow wincing in pain. "Meew." He cried, staggering to his paws, that attack had really hurt and his legs were aching with the pain. However, he still refused to give up and charged at the Spheal with a Fake Out attack, his eyes gleaming in stubborness.

With a sigh, Hayden stood tall, glaring at the stinkin' Glameow. Should he try to catch it? Or battle it some more? It looked already more than just a little weakened, and it looked like he could try and catch it -- but should he waste his Pokeballs on the Pokemon? He suddenly smiled as he realized that young Amoré now had the advantage, and if she beat this Pokemon then she could gain quite a few more experience points. It was quite close, anyways. Suddenly as he was thinking to himself he realized he had forgotten about what the Glameow was doing, and he missed the Fake Out attack that Glameow had used.
Shoot.
He hoped that poor Amoré hadn't been hurt, and his fighting spirit was once again lightened. It didn't seem as if she'd been too faked out, and lost focus, but she'd lost a little of her health points.
He grinned, and said, "Amoré, sorry about that again, but I really want to finish this off, this time, okay? Blast him with the biggest Powder Snow you can make, mixed with a Water Gun."
It was genius, of course. Hayden watched as Amoré agreed , still aggressive, and let loose another absolutely awe-inspiring blow of wind and snow, but this time it had another beautiful component. Water. The aqua-blue jets of liquid fired from her mouth right after she had used Powder Snow, and in turn the two attacks mixed together into one, turning into a gorgeous array of snow and water blended into an attack even more powerful then when they were alone.
Hayden smiled satisfactorily as he witnessed the attack. Wonderful, no? Would it not make a beautiful contest appeal? He grinned as he waited for the attack to take it's toll, and then daydreamed about what his first contest would be like.

His body collided with the Spheal and he almost purred with happiness as he forced his way into the water type, before nimbly retreating back a couple of feet, out of any close combat range. Glameow was still oblivious to the other attacks that the Spheal may have up her sleeve, she had demonstrated three of her move set but there was still one move he had yet to witness and he wouldn’t risk it if it was a short ranged attack. He was so absorbed in wondering what the next attack might possibly be that he wasn’t keeping an eye on the Spheal, though his ears twitched as the coordinator spoke, he really did speak too much, he needed to zip his lip every now and again.
Glameow let out a horrified caterwaul though when he noticed the combination of attacks rushing towards him with such power he didn’t expect from a low level. Even his speed was no match for the combo and he suffered the full on blast of the ice cold water. Skidding back along the ground, his blue eyes were like chips of ice, he felt as cold as snow right about now, the mixture of powder snow and water gun had lowered his health, though not enough to make him faint. Glameow almost cried out in horror though, when he realised he could no longer move, the powder snow had caused him to freeze to the spot. Now he was open for anything that the Spheal or coordinator could do, he could no longer move and because of that, he had lost the battle. Glameow felt ashamed with himself, the battle was too short for his liking but the move that the pair of them had pulled out had been beautiful. He knew if the coordinator was going to capture him, at least he might be brought out to some new potential.

As the move collided with Glameow, Hayden could see the horrified look on Glameow's face. But he didn't feel regret, for he knew it would soon be over when he caught the young Pokemon. The Glameow had stayed in the battle for a long time, though he was probably weakened and sick, and Hayden was proud of that, and he realized that Glameow would make a very strong addition to his team. However, he was also ecstatic about how well the move had worked out, and how beautiful it had been, and pushed it into his brain for further occasions/contests. It was wonderful how easy it had been to think of a combo; maybe he could use this skill to his advantage. He grinned at Amoré as he hugged her and smiled. She looked stronger already. She had worked so hard in this battle, and it seemed as if she had gained confidence and beauty as she had won. Now she seemed to be glowing. Hayden frowned however, and guessed in the next battle he would be using his new Pokemon, the Buneary, Rora.
As his mind returned to the battle, however, Hayden took out a Pokeball from his fresh and crisp bag. It was a red-white orb and for a second he wondered quite stupidly how to throw it. Then he remembered watching trainers in the movies throw their balls, and he held it in his hand and maximized it to full size. Now, what did he do? He threw it at the Glameow, hoping that it would hold him in its trap. As the ball landed on the Glameow, a red light sucked the Pokemon in and it lay on the ground tilting. For a second, Hayden found himself hypnotized by the timed tilting, and his eyes followed the ball closely.
The question was, would it stay in ... or not?

His sapphire eyes widened in shock as the sphere flew gracefully towards him, he wanted to struggle but the freezing temperatuer that plauged his body made it impossible for him to move. The cat like creature closed his eyes shut as he accepted his fate and within moments, he was sucked up into the red beam never to wonder the forest as a wild creature again. The sphere wriggled once, twice and three times before it lay completely still on the grass below it, the little button turning white to indicate that the Glameow had been caught.
hayden caught male glameow lvl 8 ! amoré gained 9 happiness points !
Meanwhile, on the other side of the clearing, a pair of eyes blinked from inside the bushes. The creature had watched the whole battle from start to finish and was fascinated by the events that had been preformed in front of it. It really was an interesting battle, the Glameow had proved to be a fierce opponent and personally, it was glad the creature was out of the forest now, it didn't want to get into a fight with the cat like creature. Since the battle was over now, it was turning to leave the area when it was snagged on a stray twig in the bush. The creature wriggled around and let out a few cries in annoyance and protest. The creature didn't want to be found out, didn't want to be beaten to a pulp or frozen like the Glameow that it had just witnessed being captured. It hoped the coordinator wouldn't attack it as well.
However, on the other side of the clearing there is something sparkling at the root of a tree. The sunlight filtering through the trees cascaded onto the item, causing it to gleam beautifully and making it very eye catching.
go for the creature in the bush ? or go and pick up the item ?

Hayden let out a boyish yell as he picked up the Pokeball from the ground! His very first Pokemon! His grin was wider than ever before as he clipped the Pokeball to his belt and picked Amoré up, swinging her around as he did. She had done so well. And he'd gotten a new Pokemon. Hayden decided that after his adventure was finished in the Bluebell Forest, he'd go somewhere, bond with his new Pokemon, and relax a bit -- maybe on Jasper Island? People said the beaches there were exquisite, as was the hotel, and to top it off, it was all free.
Suddenly, he heard cries of annoyance coming from a small bush on the other side of the clearing. A frown adorned his face. Was it another Pokemon? Well, of course it was. The Golden Islands seemed to be full of Pokemon, wherever he went. It seemed to be small, and from what Hayden was hearing, was in a lot of trouble. It seemed to have gotten snagged on the spines of that bush. He decided to go help it, though he really wasn't that keen on battling another Pokemon, because he wasn't quite sure if Rora could hold one off. His new Glameow - well it wasn't quite possible, and Amoré was tired, and he wanted to give her a break.
But then again, he could see something shining at the root of a tree over there. It looked pretty, and it looked valuable. Shiny. He groaned. What to pick? As he made up his mind, he wondered if what he was doing was right. After all, it was the creature's fault it had gotten stuck in the bush, not his.
'I'm going to regret this.'
He traipsed towards the bush, wondering what the Arceus the creature was.

lvl 5 absorb, sweet scent, razor leafAs soon as Hayden had walked away from the shiny object on the tree, a little Pidgey swooped down and carried it off in its claws, taking it away to never be seen again. However, the small pokémon stuck in the bush had heard the coordinator coming over and started to struggled even more violently, letting out sharp cries in fear and hurt as the twigs scraped against her, it hurt so much. However, all her efforts were rewarded as in one final attempt, she threw herself out of the leafy prison and onto the red and orange leaves on the floor. She let out a little sigh in relief, pulling herself onto her feet and shaking those big leaves on her head. Well, she was relieved until she realised that she had fallen out onto the coordinators side and was now staring at his long legs. “Odd!” She cried out in horror, her eyes growing wide as her leaves shook on her head in fear.
Her first reaction was to run and that’s what she did, she dashed off as fast as her legs would carry her, swerving around the coordinator, her little blue legs couldn’t run that fast so it would be pretty easy for the tall man with the pink hair to catch her. However, as she ran she stumbled over a stray twig, her eyes closed as she waited for the impact of the floor. When it came, she landed face first on the ground, her body still shaking from shock more than fear, she just hoped if the coordinator wanted her to battle with his pokémon, he would be fair and not attack her before challenging her. Struggling to stand up, the Oddish finally found her feet before looking at the coordinator with defiance and trying to find some source of bravery, she would have pulled it off, if she wasn’t shaking like a leaf.

Hayden looked back hopefully and sighed as he realized the shiny object was gone. This creature better be worth taking a look at. As he trotted into the thick array of bushes, he finally reached the bush where he had heard the noises, and saw a young Oddish struggling in the leaves.
He almost chuckled as he realized its desperate fight to get out of the bush's hold; even more desperate when he arrived at the scene. Apparently the young Pokemon had witnessed his capture of the Glameow, and was deathly scared of the strange human that had overcome such a monstrously strong Pokemon. However, the chuckle never left his mouth as he realized the Pokemon was quite a bit hurt from its thrashing around in the thorns of the bushes. He bent over, just about to pick it up, when it sprang out of the leaves and onto the floor, landing heavily on the floor. Then the young Oddish picked herself off the ground and ran wildly, finally tripping herself on a branch on the ground -- now without any hope of getting away from Hayden.
With a sigh, Hayden decided to take a different approach to the Oddish. She was scared, for sure, and she was also defiant and looked like she would be a great addition to his team. Plus, from what he remembered, Oddish had the ability to evolve into Bellossom, was it not? He smirked as he approached the young Pokemon, beckoning Amore to follow him. She could help; after all the young Spheal was uber friendly and would be quite reassuring to the small Pokemon. Amore yawned, and then flopped her way over to her owner, somehow understanding the problem.
Hayden knelt down in front of the shivering Pokemon and smiled gently, putting his hands up in the air. This was his attempt at trying to look unharming.
"Hey, darlin', I'm not going to hurt you, okay? In fact, you're pretty hurt and I just wanted to make sure whether you're fine."
He hoped the young Pokemon would give him a good reply. He really did not want to be caught in a situation where his hands were up, his Pokemon were not allowed to attack, and an Oddish was right in front of him with the perfect position to razor leaf him; or whatever it was that Oddish did.
