------------------------------------------------------ Kira Saint-Rueabout me | posse | bag | journal | laptop "I'm gonna hurt, I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna tear me up inside"------------------------------------------------------ The cool wind and mist blew against her face, turning her cheeks into a rosy pink. Upon the horizon she could see Onyx Harbor, the place where it would all begin. She sighed feeling a little anxious as she gripped the metal railing of the small sailboat she had taken to reach the very harbor that somehow looked ominous and foreboding to her, despite the sun shining down upon the day like a large golden disk, turning the ocean waters into blue crystalline. "You okay there little miss?" Asked the kind sailor, He had agreed to take the small girl such a distance with out even any payment, despite her insisting many times. "Yes, I'm all right." She replied flashing a sweet smile. The sailor simply nodded and looked back up ahead. Kira did so as well, and tried to convince herself that nothing unfortunate would happen to her(like getting lost). After all, she had good karma, at least she hoped so.
Finally stepping onto the docks, she bid the sailor goodbye and he wished her luck. She was certainly going to need it, the girl was clumsy. The sailor chuckled as he saw the young girl trip slightly, but quickly caught herself. It's not that the girl was truly clumsy, she was just accident-prone. This was due to her habit of spacing out or just being so deep in thought she lost track of everything else. Looking around, it looked like your normal everyday harbor, it reeked of fish and sea water most of the locals she could see(from her height) were old men or your sailors. She stood otu like a sore thumb, and she felt a bit uncomfortable being surrounded by all these tall people, so she kept her head down intently looking at the ground.
She was about to decide to go off and look for the lab herself, but she did not was to take any chances. The young girl set off to ask several locals where she could find the lab where she would collect her first pokemon.
At last! After hours and hours of asking around and getting lost half the time since she couldn't even follow simple directions, the young woman finally made it to the wooden doors, that were framed concrete walls, of the lab. Hesitating only for a few moments, the young girl raised her arm and knocked on the door three times.

PROFESSOR REDWOOD There had been sightings of Wailmer and Wailords, very close to Onyx Island, which was quite rare. So rare, that this was the closest they've been since their migrating patterns were recorded. Professor Redwood had Kai go out and tag a few of the Pokemon, so that he could track them via satellite. Kai had already radioed in and confirmed the tagging of eight Wailmer and four Wailords--a feat in itself. (Professor Redwood suspected that his Golduck did most of the work.) Already, there were twelve blips showing up on the screen, and Professor Redwood was engrossed in them, making mental notes as to their latitude and longitude lines. There was quite an advantage to being so used to working with sea-charts and maps. In front of him, maps and records were spread out on the desk, making everything quite a mess. Usually the Professor was quite strict on having things clean, but once he got started, things rarely stayed where they were put.
He had been much too intent on the migrating Pokemon, he had been quite surprised when someone knocked on the door. Jumping about a foot off the chair, he knocked over most of the maps off the desk and onto the floor. With a scowl, he got up and gingerly stepped around the maps and to the door. He swung it open, and still holding the scowl, he snapped, "What d'ya want?"
When he saw that it was only a girl, he loosened up, and stepped aside to let her in. These rookies were always interrupting something, so this wasn't the first time. "Don't step on the maps, jes' follow me," he said, already at the other end of the room, where the door was. Despite looking so old and despite wearing such clunky boots, he walked quite silently and quickly. "You are one o' them new-people, right?"
[[ i'll help you get started quickly. ]]

------------------------------------------------------ Kira Saint-Rueabout me | posse | bag | journal | laptop "I'm gonna hurt, I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna tear me up inside"------------------------------------------------------ Squeaked, she actually squeaked when the door had suddenly been swung open and showed a very annoyed elderly man. She cowered and was about to release a whole string of apologies, but the elderly man had surprised her when he had moved aside to let her in. She blinked, but quickly got inside, not wanting to keep the irate man waiting. She looked around briefly seeing the maps all sprawled on the floor. She was tempted to pick and tidy them up, but the elderly man had told her not to step on them, so that included touching them in anyway in general. When he told her to follow him, she had a bit of difficulty doing so. She had to jog slightly just to keep up with the elder man's quick pace and long strides.
'For an old man, he's fast.' She thought observing him from behind, she'd already assumed he was a captain of some sort from his hat and jacket. It somehow screamed 'authoritative figure'. Looking around, she noticed the place was fairly small, but big enough to big considered a 'lab' she supposed. She then thoughts back to those maps, she wondered what he needed them for. Was he charting his course for his next adventure? Monitoring the hurricanes perhaps? Maybe even following a school of water pokemon? Curious, she was definitely curious but she was shaken from her thoughts when the man asked a question.
He had asked if she was one of the 'new people'. Now, she dind't exactly know what he meant by that but she assumed he meant the 'people' who were coming in from different places to go to the islands. The 'people' that were aiming to be top coordinators, why else go here? Then again tourist were plenty everywhere. "Y-Yes." She silently cursed her stutter. "My name is Kira Saint-Rue, sir. Nice to meet you." She said as she continued to follow him. She was taught that you should always introduce yourself, whether the other person asks or not. She also learned that when it came to the elder types like the captain, the elderly who had a bit of a short fuse, you should only speak when spoken to and always say a 'sir' or 'ma'dam'.

PROFESSOR REDWOOD Professor Redwood watched the girl with scrutinizing eyes, making sure she didn't mess up the maps and charts on the floor, or "accidentally" swipe one. The Professors of the regions were quite friendly, but not all (Redwood) were too willing with sharing all of their information, and some (Redwood) were sure that there were others out to get their information. Redwood wouldn't put it past them to send some young-looking girl to try and take one of his maps. But the girl only seemed to be curious as she looked at the charts, not greedy at all. Maybe she wasn't out to steal his research.
At the girl's polite and well-mannered introduction (she had called him 'sir'!), he raised his eyebrows in surprise. Not many youngsters were so inclined to call him "sir", and to be honest, neither were his assistants. Although, at least they stuck with calling him "Professor." "Redwood. Nice ter meet ya," he grunted, before ushering the girl inside to the Pokeball room.
It was there that he let the girl loose to stare at the shelves of Pokeballs in awe, heading to the drawers himself. "Go ahead and take a look, but fer Arceus' sake, don't let the Pokemon out o' their Pokeballs," Professor Redwood said, scowling. It wasn't Kira's fault, really, and he wasn't yelling at her. It was just that some times the kids though they'd be cool to let out the Pokemon out of their Pokeballs. Half of the time, they rendered the Pokemon unable to find a partner. The released Pokemon would form a connection to the trainer, while the trainer went off to go find another Pokemon to choose as their starter. It took a bit of coaxing and time for the Pokemon to be able to be set out in the shelves again.
With a grunt, he turned into the drawer, where he pulled out a bag. This he handed over to the girl, telling her what was inside and what it was for.

------------------------------------------------------ Kira Saint-Rueabout me | posse | bag | journal | laptop "I'm gonna hurt, I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna tear me up inside"------------------------------------------------------ Once they were in the Pokeball room, Kira let a small gasp escape her lips. Goodness! She'd never seen so many pokeballs in a room at once. She was excited yes, but this only made her decision all the more difficult. For one, she couldn't really tell what the pokemon was, but then again...what fun was there in knowing? Kira always was partial to surprises. Kira jumped slightly when she heard Professor Redwood speak again, she'd forgotten he was there with her. He had told her not to let the pokemon out of their balls, and Kira merely thought...why? She didn't question him and merely replied with a "Yes, sir."
The request, or command, whichever it was got her thinking. Kira always was a thinker, a curious child, it's what get her into trouble in the first place. Anyways, she thought about the pokemon, what could be the possible harm of letting them out? Not even for a second? Why? Then for some reason, a disappointed feeling went through her. 'Disappointed?' She wondered and looked around, she could feel disappointment in some of the pokeballs, and that's when Kira let her imagination roam. She thought about a trainer releasing a pokemon, a pokemon eager to meet a trainer/partner they would start their life's journey with. She thought about their happy faces looking up at the trainer who they thought had picked them to be their partner, but then suddenly that person shakes their head and would move on to the next.
Even Kira would feel disappointed, having your hopes up only to be brought down by rejection. She sighed, it was no wonder how sometimes some pokemon grew bitter and distrusted humans. It was because of things like rejection, abandonment or, Arceus forbid, abuse that made them so distrusting. She shook her head of such sad thoughts. No, she would contemplate that for another time.
She was still looking around when the Professor had come up to her giving her a bag filled with the necessities she would need more her journey. "Thank you, sir." She said bowing slightly. Afterward she went back to searching, but there really wasn't much to search for sin all the balls looked the same, but then she felt a tug, oddly enough and she turned her head slightly to her right. She could of sworn she heard the angels above singing hymns while this heavenly glow shone upon one particular red and white ball. She shook her head again, it must be the fish smell that's making her cuckoo.
With a hesitant first step, then another and another she was close enough to finally grasp the red and white ball in her right hand. She stared at it for a moment, wondering if she should open it or what kind of pokemon was inside. Then the word 'fate' came to mind. Did fate predetermine her choosing this particular ball? If everything was predetermined by fate, then what the heck was 'free-will' for then? Arceus she was going crazy, just open the darn the ball!
Without another thought she threw the ball(assuming it was already enlarged) into the air and called out the pokemon. As soon as the ever familiar light show ended, and the white silhouette of the pokemon solidify, Kira had, what they would say a 'For The Wailords' face. What stood before her was a slightly(very slightly) larger than average Pokemon of it's species with a Shell on it's back, a curled tail and oddly enough it was wearing a leather jacket and triangular-like sunglasses. "Uh...What is it, sir?" Kira questioned the Professor looking at the turtle pokemon who was looking quite smug. 'King of the World' as they say.

PROFESSOR REDWOOD Professor Rowan watched the girl carefully, taking mind to stay out of her way. He leaned against the wall opposite the shelves, eyes on the girl. If someone had come in, they might have thought him to just be a creepy old man, but he promised he was just watching over her choice. She seemed like a good girl, perhaps she'd listen to what he said, unlike the other rookies that came by. His mind then trailed off to the Wailmer and Wailords. The girl had better finish choosing quick, so that he could get back to his research. This was actually really big, and he'd just about shoot someone if he wasn't able to get this data down. With an angry grunt, he turned his thoughts back to the girl, lips pressed tightly together and eyes narrowed. He wasn't usually this tense during a rookie's choosing. Actually, quite the opposite--he was quite willing to wait a long time for them to land on their decision. Today was just... different.
When he saw the girl grab for a Pokeball, he muttered a silent wish for her not to toss it into the air. It seemed Arceus just didn't like him today, and in the next moment, that was just what she did. With a flash of light, a Squirtle emerged. When Redwood caught eye of the Squirtle, he scowled. He was going to have to have a talk with either Lucy or Kai about this. Who was it that let the Pokemon into the clothes? Frustrated and angry, he flexed his jaw before saying, "It's a Squirtle. I know it doesn't look like it, since someone got him into the clothes."
He leaned in and tried to snatch the shades from the Squirtle, although the Pokemon leaned back and swatted at the Professor's hands.

------------------------------------------------------ Kira Saint-Rueabout me | posse | bag | journal | laptop "I'm gonna hurt, I'm gonna cry, I'm gonna tear me up inside"------------------------------------------------------ Kira giggled at the Squirtle's antics. At least now she didn't have to force it to wear clothes when it came time for contest and the sun glasses actually made it look cool. "He's cute." Kira said smiling brightly at the Squirtle, as she kneeled down to it's level. "Hi, there...I'm Kira." She introduced herself.
The Squirtle had a bit of a incredulous look on his face when the young trainer had called him 'cute'. He wasn't cute, he was(damn sexy jk xD) calm(has a temper), collected(tends to panic in crucial situations), and the coolest of them all(not really). "Squirtle Squirt!" It declared as it swiped it's imaginary hair back and did a 'cool pose.
"Seems like he's been watching movies too." Kira murmured, next thing you know, random music plays from the heavens and the Squirtle would start singing and dancing about summer love. She smiled as she stood back up to her full height, which was incrdibly short compared to the captain, as she faced him and said "I'll take him." Now normally she would have gone with a more...'girlier' choice like a Staryu, or Horsea, maybe even a Finneon, but Squirtle's ball was the first one she picked and she wasn't about to be one of those trainer's that got a Pokemon's hopes up and then just to reject them anyways.
Squirtle was a bit surprised, he'd thought this girl, this what was she a trainer? Ah, didn't matter. He thought she would be just like the others who thought he was 'weird' or was put off by his smug display and his attitude. Perhaps this was it, perhaps this was the chance he was finally gonna get out of this fishy place and finally get to travel a bit, visit new places, like the ones he saw on the magic glowing box they called Tvee.
