------------------------------------------------------ Felix Lestridgeabout me | pokemon | bag | journal | pc” Your words were like a dream, But dreams could never fool me…”------------------------------------------------------ "Zurill! Azurill!" cheered the little mouse like Pokemon as it bounced on its rubber ball like tail. It was calling for it's trainer who was taking his sweet time walking behind her. "I'm coming, I'm coming." He chuckled still going on his easy pace.
They had arrived at Onyx Harbor late last night and had slept in a nearby inn, the young man didn't like it here much only because of the smell of fish and sea water, that, and the shining sun that blazed over head. It was fall and a little chilly but that didn't stop the big ball of fire from burning, despite the few gray clouds here and there. "Zurill!!" called his hyperactive little pokemon that was a few meters ahead of him now. "Don't stray too far, Ruri! You get lost easily, remember?" He chided and chuckled when he saw her blow up her cheeks in indignation.
They were headed for the lab, here at this harbor, why at a harbor and not a city...he didn't know. Anyways, they were going there to pick up the young man's starter pokemon. Technically Ruri, his Azurill, was his first, but he didn't want her fighting...at least not yet. she was too small, and she didn't exactly know any offensive moves. The young man let his little pokemon lead the way, but would sometimes correct her with 'the other way' or 'over here' if she took a wrong turn. Overall the young man kept a fair distance behind her, keeping a slow pace since his long legs would make him pass her, which she didn't like.
"Azurill!!" She cheered reaching the large doors to the lab. The young man smirked, he was amused at his pokemon's antics. She was easily amused and also easy to upset. The little thing was a roller coaster of emotions. 'A lot like someone I know...' he thought as he walked up to the door, and picking her up in his arms. "Good job, Ruri! You did very well!" He praised and patted her head. "Rill!" she exclaimed, the two white circles on her cheeks turning a light pink color. The young man smiled, his eyes a soft lavender. However, his eyes quickly changed to an icy blue and his expression turned blank as he faced the door and knocked.
KNOCK , KNOCK , KNOCK
Ruri never understood why that was, but she felt special being the only one to see her trainer smile, and see his eyes turn into that soft lavender color.
Ruri Happiness Count:- +1 praise
- +1 out of pokeball
- +1 soothe bell

PROFESSOR REDWOOD The Professor felt a little off today. It was the mornings that did that to him. He always wanted to fall back asleep, but he never could. Unfortunately, he was naturally an early riser, and often got up before the sun came up. It was a habit that had been drilled into him ever since he was younger. At least he got to sleep early, unlike the people who only gained an hour or two of sleep every night. The Professor liked to be healthy and have a good amount of sleep every day. Otherwise, he tended to be a bit of a grouch, and he could never work with Pokemon when he was like that. But then there were the days were he just couldn't help but wake up in a horrid mood. Like today.
Perhaps he had just gotten up on the wrong side of the bed, but he was grumpy. His aides could tell, and so could his Milotic; instead of going about their daily routines, they holed up in their rooms--the pokeball for the Milotic--and refused to come out. Not until Ben had had at least two cups of coffee and managed to force his lips into a smile. But to be honest, he rather liked the quiet. No feet thumping overhead, no one yelling for this or for that. Really, having Lucy and Kai were like having children.
Having poured himself a cup of warm coffee, the Professor shuffled into the main lobby, where he booted up his computer. At the moment, he was wearing his worn pyjamas, white with blue stripes, instead of his usual and intimidating outfit. The computer had just warmed up when he heard the knock at the door. He usually wouldn't go answer the door in his pyjamas--what self-respecting man would?--but it was the morning, and he expected it to be the mail man or someone who didn't really matter.
When he opened the door, the Professor was quite surprised when he saw a rather clean-looking young man. Without missing a beat, he took a long sip from his mug before saying, "Come on in, then," a little more gruff than usual.

------------------------------------------------------ Felix Lestridgeabout me | pokemon | bag | journal | pc” Your words were like a dream, But dreams could never fool me…”------------------------------------------------------ Well that surprised him, though he didn't show it. Ruri had been about to squeal in laughter at the appearance of the old man, but Felix was able to cover her little mouth in no time. Without even bothering to ask, who he was, why he was here, the old man invited them in. Felix raised a delicate brow at that. Was this senior just going to let a random stranger come into his home? Sure Felix didn't look the part of a mass murderer or burglar, but that didn't you should just invite anyone in.
He quickly assumed that the old man probably had a variety of strangers always coming in and out all the time so seeing a new one didn't phase him. Without a word, he entered the building. Ruri was trying to speak but her words were being muffled by her trainer's large hand. She was also trying to wriggle from his grip, wanting to hop around and explore.
"You must be Professor Redwood, I assume?" Felix questioned, the man did have that aura saying 'man-of-great-knowledge-and-experience' radiating off of him, despite his odd attire. "I hope I hadn't disturbed you by coming in so early," Felix said, attempting his skill at being 'polite'. Didn't want a man like that to be cross with him, "but I came here to get my starter."
He was blunt, and straight to the point, he wanted out of here as soon as possible. The smell of the town was making him sick already, and he didn't want a constant reminder of his bumpy boat ride. Felix swore never to ride with a crazy old sailor ever again. "Rill!" Ruri exclaimed, finally getting her mouth away from her trainer's large hand. "Azurill!" She cheered in triumph , and began to look around curiously.
She wanted to move around and investigate, but knew her trainer wouldn't approve, so she stayed where she was. For her good behavior and self control, Felix absentmindedly patted her on the head, to indicate she'd done something right, or good. He didn't voice it though, he didn't like showing any sort of affection in public.

PROFESSOR REDWOOD The Professor didn't even look at the young man as he shuffled back into the room. He was certainly embarrassed about his appearance, but he wasn't about to show any of it. If either Winters or Richards managed to walk in on the room, he would rather not give them any chance to laugh at him. With a more of a harrumph, he picked up his coffee mug and took a big drink, although it was slow. He had turned around to give the boy a good look, and to be honest, he was a bit surprised at the Azurill. Usually the point of getting a starter was because you didn't have any Pokemon to start off with. Hence calling them "starters" not "another-Pokemon-for-your-team." But he couldn't recall ever seeing him before, on his boat or otherwise, and he always remembered faces he'd seen before. Especially if they had ever been on his boat. Besides, he looked too soft to have caught that Azurill on his own. It was probably a gift--Pokemon were often given by parents for their children. Usually meant as a sweet gesture, but it just got annoying after a while.
"'Course ya are. Why else would ya come ter me fer?" he asked, his accent slurring his words and making him seem intimidating--despite the pyjamas. Finishing off the rest of his coffee, he absentmindedly placed the mug on the table before starting down a door--which had been left open! He'd have to confront one of his aides about that. His bare feet slapped against the tile ground as he looked around the room with a careful eye. Nothing seemed to be missing, so no one broke in. All the valuable Pokeballs were still here, at least.
"Pick out one ya like," he said, before going to rummage through the cupboard for a starter pack.

------------------------------------------------------ Felix Lestridgeabout me | pokemon | bag | journal | pc” Your words were like a dream, But dreams could never fool me…”------------------------------------------------------ He didn't say anything to, what he assumed, was a rhetorical question. Arceus, why was he here again? He had to keep reminding himself why he was even bothering with this adventure, trying to resist the urge of simply running back to Alto Mare. He followed the Professor as he began to walk off to another room. First the guy let's in strangers, next he keeps the door tot he room that kept the pokemon open. Bloody hell, was this guy asking to get robbed?
He tried, very hard not to say any smart-ass remark that would get him into some sort of trouble. Old habits die hard, as they say. Ruri was trying to behave as well, she was very tempted to just hop out of her trainer's arm and just explore. Everything just seemed so fascinating.
Soon enough they came into a room where the pokeballs of the starter pokemon were placed. The old man simply said to pick what he wanted, but how was he supposed to do that? All the pokeballs looked the same, and he didn't exactly know what was in them. Could he open them? Heck he didn't know! He was about to ask but the old man had left to go shuffle through the cupboards. Not wanting to be a pest at the moment he just waited.
Ruri however, couldn't wait any longer. Using her tail like a lasso she threw towards where the pokeballs lay. "Ruri!" The young man exclaimed trying to recapture the bouncing mouse, Ruri had taken a ball into her mouth and was now hoping about, a very irritated young man trying to catch her. "Ruri, Drop it." He told her as he finally caught the bouncing pokemon. Ruri was a little disappointed that her fun had been abruptly interrupted, but she complied and let go of the pokeball.
It rolled out of her mouth and onto the ground. There was a 'popping' sound and a flash of light. The young man closed his eyes, and so did Ruri. When they opened them again they saw an orange lizard like-pokemon. "Char!" it exclaimed as it saw the young man and mouse. "A...Charmander?" The young man murmured. He then looked down to his Azurill. "You must be my lucky charm, Ruri."

PROFESSOR REDWOOD He already didn't like that Azurill. Baby Pokemon weren't his thing, especially when all they did was run amok and start deciding they could play with something that just happened to be important. Professor Redwood already knew that the Azurill was going to be trouble, he was just glad he wasn't the one who had to take care of it. Having been glaring at the small Pokemon as it hopped about, his face loosened from the glare and instead, he let out a grunt before pulling out that starter pack. That boy was going to have to learn how to discipline that one. That was the only way a Pokemon learned how to obey you and only you. But then the boy managed to get a hold of that Azurill and the Pokeball she had, and decided the smartest thing to do was to release the Pokemon. Why weren't any of these new kids sensible?
With a new scowl on his face, the Professor tossed the starter pack at the boy's feet. "Yes, it's a Charmander. Yes, it's yours," the Professor grumbled before the boy could ask any stupid questions. "That's a starter pack, filled with items you need to start off on your journey. Don't be a smart-ass and not take it, unless you want your Pokemon to suffer." The Professor couldn't help but remember a certain young boy who thought it would be cooler if he gained his own money and bought his own items. That didn't last very long, either.

------------------------------------------------------ Felix Lestridgeabout me | pokemon | bag | journal | pc” Your words were like a dream, But dreams could never fool me…”------------------------------------------------------ Oh! The old man did not, just call him a smart-ass. "Now why in bloody hell would I want to let my pokemon suffer?" He questioned the old man, his tone slightly irritated. He called the Charmander back to it's ball and Ruri quieted down, having felt her trainer's irritated mood. "Don't mistake me for some inexperienced buffoon who thinks he can take on the world without provisions. I've had my fair share of adventures." He said as he placed Ruri back down on the ground. "Please excuse me!" He said picking up the backpack roughly and slinging it over his shoulder. Pokeball in hand, bad over his shoulder and Ruri bouncing after him as he walked out of the room.
"Honestly! Talk about 'bitter old man!' What, did his wife leave him or something? I wouldn't be surprised if she did!" The young man murmured as he walked down the hall that would take him back to the front entrance. As he reached the front doors, he swung the door wide open, letting Ruri out first, and then before he left he did one last thing. He locked the front door, making sure it would stay locked and then slammed the door shut.
Taking a deep breath, not wanting to scare Ruri with his sudden mood swings, he tried to calm down. Getting angry would make his condition worse since anger made blood rush to your head. Once he was calm he looked down to see Ruri looking worriedly. "I'm fine, Ruri. Let's get going." He said her with a slight smile. Ruri smiled and began leading the way. He chuckled his mood lightning. He sighed, feeling a little anxious, he was off to another adventure. There wasn't any turning back now, he either got through it until his time came or he gave up mid-way. He smirked, him, give up? He didn't think so. He was no quitter.
