Silhouette grinned happily, then bent down to shake his head like a dog in hopes of shaking the water out. It was a futile shot, but at least most of it was dry.

Instead of immediately getting a Pokemon (like most children would do), Silhouette had immediately gone for the ocean. Ah, the beautiful ocean. Swimming was Sil's favorite hobby and if he came across any gorgeous, clear, body of water then he was sure to jump in. And when he'd heard that he was going to the Golden Islands, well, you can imagine how much swimming gear he'd packed. So, for the last two hours he had been swimming in the beautiful area, and in the end he had discovered a lagoon filled with Luvdisc in their natural habitat. It had been a magnificent sight, and Sil had spent the entire morning swimming and playing with the wild Pokemon.

Now it was around two in the afternoon and he wanted to get on his way to Emerald Island by night, so he had reluctantly decided to get out of the water.

Sil's plan was simple. He was going to step inside the laboratory, ask to go to the Pokemon Storage room, and just ... sense the Pokemon that needed the most help emotionally. He'd pick that Pokemon, no matter how beautiful it was. As soon as he'd talked to an old grandma, (who had insisted that he stay and have tea with her), he made his way to the pretty cottage at the edge of the island, facing the beautiful ocean.

Stepping down the stone-laden path, Sil was feeling happy and ready for anything. He's done it on purpose, swimming in the lagoon, to knock off all that stress and fright. Now, he realized how useful it was that he wasn't shivering in He knocked on the door softly, playing with the strands of his hair.

"Hello, is anyone home?"

No! His boat was late to the docks yet again. Why did this happen so much recently? He let Kai and Lucy have the day off, so of course the two had to take the ferry rather than the fishing boat Kai owned. So, the two were late back and a bunch of confused new coordinators were running about in a mad manner. It. Was. Insane. Redwood had done everything possible that day. Cleaned the balls, dusted, played with Milotic in the harbour. And still, the only kids to come to the lab that day were in search of the captain that needed to haul them to Emerald Island and back. He rubbed his head as he paced through the halls of the lab, not really doing to good at keeping himself occupied. He also had no need for examining the Pokémon, for they were already in top condition for level five beginners. Sighing, he sat on a love seat in the waiting room, running a hand behind his neck to settle himself down. Of course, not a moment later, there was a knock on the door.

He stood up, grumbling, and as it swung open, he almos glared. The teen that stood there hardly looked lost, though. He seemed to know what he was determined to do. Ah, yes, perception was big to the professor. "You're here for your first Pokémon. Or, you'd better be. C'mon, kid."

[/color] He turned around on his heels, strolling to the back room and hoping the kid would have enough sense to close the door. He appeared to be smart in the two seconds he'd looked at him. "I'm Professor Ben Redwood, in case you didn't know. The Pokéballs are lined up on the shelves - feel free to pick whichever one calls to you."[/color]

Silhouette raised an eyebrow at the man's attitude. He was either very annoyed and in a bad mood, or he was always like this. For a second, Silhouette wondered what was wrong with him, why he had become like this, but then he shook his head and returned to the subject at hand: receiving his first Pokemon. Professor Redwood had seemed quite strict and had jumped right to the subject, glaring at Silhouette like he carried the plague, and well, the least thing that Sil could do without seeming awkward was to close the door. After silently pushing it shut, he made his way behind the Professor and walked down a long corridor -- into the Pokemon Storage room.

As he had guessed, the area was covered in shelves, Pokeballs everywhere, whether they be maroon and white, or light blue and dark blue. It was a pretty selection, to be sure, and he smiled as he looked at the shelf that read 'STARTER POKEMON' in big block letters. Hm. Interesting. The shelves were labeled with the Pokemon names, but Silhouette just closed his eyes and tried to sense the area around him. Immediately, he could feel Pokemon spirits pushing inside the Pokeballs, but the one soul he could feel the most was that pull on the one that lay away from the other Pokeballs, in the corner of the shelf, untouched. The Pokemon inside called to him, and yet he did not know what the Pokemon was; all he knew was he felt a strange profound connection with it.

In his dazed state, he reached unconsciously -- clumsily, for the Pokeball and took it in his hands as he felt a peculiar warmth fill his body. Silhouette opened his eyes and blinked, getting used to the bright room again and turned to the Professor.

"Sorry for taking such a long time, sir, I'd like this Pokemon, please."

He fingered his earring, and then finally remembered to look at the label which he had forgotten to before because he had been so involved in the Pokemon's spirit.

CHIKORITA.

'Chikorita, eh? This will be interesting.'

The Professor watched the kid meekly, curiosity filling his eyes as he tried to zero in on what he could possibly be doing. Was he planning on shutting his eyes, walking into the shelf, and taking the first Pokéball to hit the ground? Grinding his teeth together, he tried his best not to let anything bother him. Which was rather hard to do for a grumpy old man. But he had been right - the kid has some moxy, not speaking to him. He was intelligen after all. Smirking at this, ke kept his eyes on the boy. He wouldn't leave til the kid picked up his mess if anything happened... But alas, he seemed to wake from his trance and strode directly toward one of the balls, leaving Ben Redwood staring meekly. The kid picked it up and fumbled with it for a moment, seeming to feel the energy just flowing from the Chikorita it contained and into his system. "Don't worry about it. It's a tough decision, but you made a good choice in that Pokémon.

Had he ever been that social? Honestly, it was a good question since that was probably one of the few compliments he'd ever made to a coordinator. Even though tons came in day after day. Fiddling about in the desk at the back of the room, he pulled out a pack which the lab workers called a starter pack. Moving to the kid's side, he handed it out to him, trying to avoid his head to look out the window. The ferry was just getting back! "Here's a starter pack. it has everything you need to begin your journey in it. I hope you have fun on the boat ride over - we'll be leaving in about fifteen minutes. And... Good luck. Wherever the Golden Islands take you."[/color] Smirking, he just went back to close the desk drawer, feeling his belt to make sure he was close to his Milotic.
