the rules,
[/color][/font][/center][/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]
so, like, read these please? i know rules aren't the greatest thing in the world, but you know the drill. read them, follow them, memorize them, whatevers. just read them and you'll be fine, aiight? we just need the forum to run smoothly. (:
note that any sort of breaking of these rules will result in consequences dealt by the admins.
*general,
[/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]
these rules apply to the entire forum, not something specific in particular. therefore, these rules apply everywhere and everyone while on this forum.
the first thing we ask for is respect. please respect everyone on the forum. this includes the staff, all and any members, new members and the guests. if there is any particular member or person who is annoying and//or being impossible to deal with, please alert one of the staff, mainly the admin, so that we can deal with it.
along with us asking for respect, there are also a few other ground rules to follow as well. we ask that you check your language when posting. do not engage in any name calling, excessive swearing, or any sort of offensive behaviour. we do not need any vulgar or inappropriate behaviour running around, aimed at other members. if you have a problem with someone, either alert the staff or take your arguing somewhere more private and away from the public's view, like ims or pms.
and never, ever, should you flame. it is rude and uncalled for, and downright immature. whether it's about someone's artwork or writing, whatever it may be, do not do it. it will result in serious consequences.
spamming, simply put, is unnecessary and irritating. spamming would include repeatedly posting pointless or inappropriate messages, or posting anything pointless. all it does is create a hassle for the staff to delete them all, and will result in a few angry staff members. if you need to get a point across, do it respectfully and in one post. double posts should only be to update something important, like an update to an art thread. otherwise, just edit your post. if we catch anyone doing this to get more money, we will start subtracting amounts.
multiple accounts are not allowed. we rather ask that you have all your characters on one account, instead of one per character.
no stupidly long names like princesspikachu101. these kind of names are frowned upon, so for your own interest, please don't have a name like that. just use a internet nickname which is short and sweet, nothing too long please.
as for activity, we understand that real life comes before anything on the internet. however, all we ask is that you do not leave anyone hanging--especially if you are in the middle of a contest battle. in a battle, if you do not post for three days, it is automatically counted as a forfeit. so if you know that you will be gone for more than a week--unless it's something sudden like a family member getting injured--try to let us know and be smart enough not to enter a contest.
you should never, ever steal or plagerise. it will not be tolerated whatsoever. if you want to use something that belongs to someone, ask. if they say no, then that is not an invitation to go ahead and take it anyway because you think they'd never find out. the internet is a small world, my friend. if you ever want to use anything from tgi, then all you need to do is ask, and there will be a bigger chance that we might say yes, than if you just took it.
*posting,
[/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]
this section will cover word count as well as display guidelines. these will be a little lax, although we will reprimand if we see that you are stretching the boards by 200 pixels and only typing 100 word posts.
whenever you are posting, we ask for literacy. to keep from having flat, uninteresting and uncreative posts, we ask for a 300 word count. we have a word counter in the side bar, just under the cbox. i recommend previewing your post to check your word count as you type. we won't mind if you slip up once or twice, but if it starts to become a habit, we will ask that you either up your literacy, or to leave, as this site isn't the best for you. we also ask that your posts have something to reply to, especially when you have someone modding a wild pokémon for you. if you've ever done it, you would know that it's hard when the person you are modding isn't giving you anything to work off of. if you haven't ever modded, lucky you.
under no circumstances should graphics relate to anything inappropriate. this includes profanity and nudity. the offending image will be removed and you will be warned. we also ask that your images only ever be 450px wide to keep the boards from stretching unnecessarily. if your images are bigger, either make a thumbnail or link to it.
as for signatures, our basic guidelines are the same. we also ask that you link to your profiles and pcs in your signatures, so that it would be a little easier on the staff.
when posting, it's perfectly fine to customize your posts with images or other styles, so long as there's no board stretching. we also ask that you keep from blinding neon colors as well as teeny-tiny font. most of the skins will be pure white, so any color that's too light or bright will be hard on the eyes.
*character,
[/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]
characters tend to be the basis of a roleplay forum. without a character, you can't really roleplay, and without roleplaying... well, it just isn't much of a roleplay site anymore. but as much as we love characters, there are times when we need rules to regulate what kinds of characters are allowed.
don't go making a character that's an exact replica of one that is already in existence, be it from another anime or series. be unique! we won't bite if you use the image of a character, but taking their personality would be like stealing, and you already know that we don't approve of stealing, right?
there are no perfect characters. i don't care if your girl has been a coordinator for fifteen years, she will not win all the ribbons on her first try. especially if your boy is trying out contests for the first time, he will not win on his first try, every time. i understand that there are exceptionally beautiful people out there and exceptionally smart people, but not everyone is. unless i trust you, if you say your character was "very beautiful and popular" in your application, there will be a slim chance you will be accepted. give your character at least two flaws.
you are allowed to have past pokémon in your character's history, but they will not be allowed to be started with in the golden islands. we have a rather large list of starters to choose from, we doubt that you won't be able to choose one.
your character does not know any legendaries. they have never met, never spoken, and has never dreamt about one another. you might think this is "unique," but it's not. it's extremely overdone.
your character does not know any canon characters either. this is a completely different place and time than when the anime is set, so no, you may not know ash and any canons for that matter.
pokémorphs will be rarely accepted. i have seen some very badly done 'morphs, and unless i see that your character is just astounding, it will be rejected. if you want a morph, make them believable and more realistic. if you want some girl with cat-ears and a tail, make them walk around wearing a hat with cat ears and a clip-on tail.
you may not roleplay your character unless they have been accepted first.
*roleplaying,
[/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]
like characters, roleplaying is more or less the foundations of a roleplaying site. we ask that you follow these rules so that everything may move as smoothly as possible.
we are a literate pokémon forum. this means that we ask for close to perfect grammar and close to perfect spelling. we already have a 300 word count limit to prevent anyone from trying to post flat replies, but even still, i believe this rule should be up here. there's a spell check button at the bottom when you are typing up your posts, so use it, if you're not using firefox.
never godmode or powerplay. you cannot control anyone's pokémon other than yours, and you cannot control if they hit or not. likewise, if you are in a battle, be sensible. your pokemon cannot dodge every hit, and they should never ever be "invincible." and as a note, you cannot recall a pokemon just before they take a hit. no one's quick enough for that. if we catch anyone doing any of these things, we will assign you a mod to keep track of your battles.
as for any of these so-called limits, we ask that you merely be smart about it. there will be some people who will not want to see you f-bombing, so try to censor more of the profane words. same with suggestive themes. your character can go take a shower, and they can go change in their rooms. however, if there are any sexual themes, either warn people in the title or taking over pms. with violence, we just ask that you be smart. it's fine if your pokémon bleeds from a slash attack, or if they break a bone from a take down. but don't start having internal organs spewing everywhere. please. this also goes for fights between coordinators.
your character may only have six pokémon at once. no more. it is up to you if your character can understand their pokémon or not, but be reasonable. you might understand your starter pokémon, but if you just caught that buneary, i doubt that she'll love you right off the bat and you'll have conversations with her and she'll understand.
psychic pokémon tend to be telepathic, and able to speak. however, they are most connected with their coordinator compared to any other people. lower stages can only speak in simple words while final forms can speak fluently. it is perfectly fine if you have your pokémon "learn" words as they go on.
if a thread does not have "closed" or "private" somewhere in the title, it will be assumed that it is open for anyone to join. if you do not want anyone to join, just put either of the two words. if you only want one character to join, put the character's name in the thread title. otherwise, it will be deemed open.
when reserving moderators, simply put their name up on the title. that way, the mod knows that the thread is reserved for them. however, the mod has rights to deny the reservation if they decide that they have too many threads on their hands.
so, thread concurrency. in the golden islands, you can visit the islands in whatever order you want, however, you have to visit the contest halls in order. and when making multiple threads, they must be on the same island. so you can't have a thread in emerald island and then opal island. however, the three "extra islands" (jasper, amber and pearl), are considered "extra areas" along with the coordinator square. these places, you are allowed to go to. overall, your total thread limit per character is four.
there is no limit in which order to go through the islands. you may skip from island to island, and it is never a rule that you must enter the contest halls once you stop by on an island. the wild pokemon seem to be diverse in levels as well to accommodate, and it is always up to you to decide your path. however, it is a rule that you must go through the contests in that order. if you wish to be in a contest, people will ask to see your previous ribbons, and unless you have them, you may not participate in the contests. you may watch, however, as that might be a certain source of inspiration. so. you may go to the islands in whichever order for the different pokemon that are there, but you may not go through the contests in whatever order you would like.
there is, however, a post limit per each area that you visit. it may increase per area, although you are more than welcome to extend your stay. in your first non-lab thread, you must stay for three pages (30 posts) including the moderator. so you'll only really need to do 15 posts. this does not include quests. you'll see what these are later on, don't worry. once you reach your limit, a moderator will pop in and inform you that you have reached the mandatory amount and that you may choose to either stay or leave, along with your necessary needs for your next thread.
please do not use real life people for your play by, we only accept anime characters here. so no celebs thank you very much, only anime characters. i don't mind if you have an anime character you don't know as your pb, we'll try and find out who the character is for you if need be.
